PD Dr. Heike Walk

Heike Walk has habilitated, and has obtained her doctorate, in political sciences. She studied at the Freie Universität in Berlin and at Edinburgh University. She wrote her dissertation on international climate politics and the influences of different interest groups within international and local governance systems. From 2002 to 2007 she was co-leader of an interdisciplinary research group and in 2007 she habilitated in political sciences at the Westfälischen-Wilhelms-Universität in Münster.
Heike Walk is joint editor of the book series "Civil Society and Democracy" at the VS Publishing House for Social Sciences, Wiesbaden. She has many years of experience in project management of applied, interdisciplinary research projects.
Her current work focus is:
- Governance and participation research
- Analyses of civil societies and democracy research
- Investigation, conception and implementation of public participation projects
- Research of social movements and ecological lifestyles
- Social scientific climate and energy research
- Analyses of sustainable development
Heike Walk is spokeswoman for the "Social Movements" working group of the German Association of Political Sciences (DVPW) and member of the scientific advisory committee of attac. She is involved with local Agenda 21 projects and with the Federal Network for Civic Action (Bundesnetzwerk Bürgerschaftliches Engagement).
