International Women’s Day – migration – integration – causes of migration [08.03.2016]

"Refugee! Heroine! My Mother!” – A poetic reflection on International Women’s Day

All human beings build their life upon the foundations provided by their parents. On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Safaa Mohajeri reminds herself and us of her mother’s path of life.

Education and humanity as pillars of life

At the age of 32, Saliha Halima El-Hussein and her eight children flee from civil war in Lebanon to Germany. Today, all her children are adults, societally and occupationally well integrated in German society. This integration effort is based on Salima El-Hussein’s educational principles: Education and humanity towards every human being.

"Her message is even more important today, as thousands of refugees in Germany are searching for shelter, education and a better life for themselves and their children” says Safaa Mohajeri. "Therefore it’s important for me to call attention to my mother’s courage and attitudes.”
