Iran – Zayandeh Rud – water resources – agriculture – delegation - Isfahan [25.04.2018]

inter 3 welcomes delegation of agricultural experts from Iran

With an average share of 90% agriculture is by far the biggest water user in Iran. Especially in the Zayandeh Rud catchment in Central Iran, people and the environment have been suffering more and more from water shortage, and farmers have periodically been protesting against water supply cuts. If the water crisis is to be overcome, the agricultural sector in particular needs to implement effective and efficient measures for saving water.

A delegation of four from the Agricultural Organization and the Agricultural Research Center in Isfahan has come to Germany to learn about possible approaches and technologies. inter 3 prepared their agenda and accompanies the delegation at its various destinations. Amongst others, results of the BMBF-funded IWRM Zayandeh Rud project and the BMU/GIZ funded project on climate change adaptation measures are presented and discussed.

The delegation will also visit the Leibniz Institutes for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam and the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) in Großbeeren.
