inter 3 supports GIZ and BGR fact-finding mission in Iran

Within the framework of the German environmental ministry’s (BMU) International Climate Initiative climate protection measures in the MENA region have been supported since 2014.Primary field for cooperation with regards to climate change adaptation in Iran is sustainable water resources management, especially in the Zayandeh Rud catchment in Central Iran.

In a prior project (2015-2017) inter 3 carried out a vulnerability assessment and developed an action plan for sustainable land and water management in the lower reaches of the Zayandeh Rud catchment. Based on this, German-Iranian cooperation for climate-sensitive water management shall be pursued.

In a fact-finding mission of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in late April, recommendations for future activities shall be developed. inter 3 will be responsible for briefing the BGR and GIZ experts on the current situation in the catchment and the results of ongoing and finished projects, for the coordination and company of the mission in Isfahan.
