Iran-Water: Market study on Iran’s water sector published

In the face of saturated and established markets German industries have to seek new market opportunities to maintain their position as global export leaders. Against this backdrop Iran provides great potential as a target market. Moreover, Iran has always been one of Germany’s main business partners in the MENA region.

With its competencies the German water and wastewater industry can serve key areas of Iran’s water sector. On the one hand, there is a lot of competition after the easing of the sanctions. On the other hand, many companies still hesitate to step into Iran’s market because of several uncertainties: What are necessary steps? What is the political and legal situation? Are investments protected sufficiently?

In the framework of the "Exportinitiative Umwelttechnologien" of the German Environmental Ministry (BMUB), inter 3 and the Iranian consulting company Payam Pars have prepared a market study that delivers the most important answers. Based on latest data it provides a detailed analysis of Iran’s water and wastewater sector as well as existing infrastructure. It also offers important and useful information on political arrangements and decision-making processes in Iran’s water sector, on options for investment protection and different forms of market participation.

The study (in German) is now available for download.
