Privatization and benchmarking in the water sector
In Iran, the privatization of state enterprises is currently an important issue. Manifold water and wastewater services are supposed to be sold completely or partially to private investors. Alternatively the privatization of the operational management is also discussed.
On the "International Conference on Water and Wastewater with Focus on Privatization and Benchmarking”, experts discuss their experiences with outsourcing, PPP, and benchmarking in Iran. The development of a viable framework for the future development of the water sector is hereby of major interest.
In its conference key note Dr. Shahrooz Mohajeri, Managing Director of inter 3, illustrates chances and risks of the privatization of water supply and sanitation. Based on a 20 year history of privatization in Europe, he exemplifies on which points Iranian enterprises can learn from that experience and how better privatization and benchmarking concepts can be developed.
