Young Cities: Culturally adapted infrastructures for Iran; water and wastewater management and consumption-oriented concepts for urban infrastructures [28.11.2011]
Young Cities: Culturally adapted infrastructures
How can urban infrastructures be designed in resource-efficient ways? In the German-Iranian research project "Young Cities”, directed by the Technical University Berlin, inter 3 develops concepts for sustainable infrastructures of the future for new cities in Iran. Presently, inter 3 examines the water consumption in Tehran with a special software in order to develop models for a culturally adapted water consumption management in the New Town Hashtgerd.
Modern software solutions for sustainable water consumption
In the pilot project "Young Cities", culturally adapted technical solutions for a crucial question of the future are being developed: How can the cohabitation of increasingly more people in urban spaces be organised energy-efficiently and sustainably? inter 3 examines the water consumption of approximately 30 households in the model region Tehran-Karaj in Iran. The data is being incorporated into the development of a socially adapted water consumption management. Profound analyses of the demand as well as the supply are part of the procedure. It is indispensable for a sustainable, future water management to provide culturally adapted management concepts for the reduction of the water consumption in addition to the technical infrastructures of the water supply and the wastewater disposal.
