Capacity Development "made in Germany"

After the positive experience of the Iranian delegation at the IFAT 2010 exhibition, the Tehran Water and Wastewater Company assigns inter 3 with the planning and execution of another delegation’s trip to the Wasser Berlin International 2011 exhibition. 15 decision makers of the Iranian Water sector from the regional as well as local level are being introduced to the different highlights of the water fair, they are intensifying professional contacts in the German capital and they are able to discuss the specific need for Capacity Development of the Iranian water sector in an Iranian-German expert workshop.

Aim: Overview of education and training in the water sector in Germany

inter 3 accounts for the conception, organisation and performing of the delegation’s journey for the decision makers of the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company (NWWEC) as well as of the Tehran Water and Wastewater Company including the expert workshop at the Wasser Berlin International. The visitors’ programme is designed according to the specific interests of the participants which have been investigated prior to the trip. The focus is put on an overview of the structures in education and training of the German water sector with regard to the dual formation system and the training organised within the frame of associations. During its visits of different companies the delegation is learning about principles applied in praxis for knowledge transfer and professional training "on the job”. Within the scope of the international country forum, inter 3 organises an Iranian-German workshop on the chances and challenges of the Iranian water sector. It enables the participants to discuss the transferability of the presented approaches with German experts in the context of the specific Iranian education and training needs.

Result: Capacity Development according to the German model

Due to the information transfer which has been modeled by inter 3 individually for this target group, to the attractive visitors’ programme as well as to the high ranking communication partners the Iranian delegation is profiting from the numerous contacts with water and wastewater experts. The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the German Association of Water, Wastewater and Waste and the NWWEC is a first step for the development of the Iranian-German cooperation in the field of education and training.
