Shared-use community facilities in the countryside

Innovative strategies for stabilising rural areas using the example of Brandenburg

The flat lands of Brandenburg are being studied to see if and how local community shared-use facilities in rural areas (facilities such as socio-cultural facilities, village community centers or bartering circles) can contribute to sustainable development. This joint project is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Its objective is to take up innovative approaches to community use, and to study and support local initiatives that display future applicability. inter 3 is investigating and structuring the inter- and transdisciplinary research process within the research collaboration.

The inter- and transdisciplinary approach of the project combines the locally available practical knowledge with the multidisciplinary scientific know-how of the collaboration partners. In close cooperation with the regional involved parties, sustainable concepts in the field of community use are sought.

Converting cooperation research into cooperation management

Alongside the analysis of characteristics, difficulties and possibilities of the joint work, inter 3 is developing and testing the cooperation management tool. It supports the concrete collaboration between the research and practice partners. The goal is to create awareness of the respective interests and needs, as well as the knowledge and expertise, of the other project partners. This initiates, structures and moderates constructive learning and experience-gaining processes. Precise observation, analysis and structuring at the micro level of the research processes produces experiences and insights that are converted into concrete cooperation management tools and methods.
