Maria Kondra

Expert in social ecology and water management

Transparency and fairness in matters of distribution: Developing the deepest possible understanding of how and where water flows in a city and who gets it, with a perspective on heritage and color of skin - Maria Kondra has addressed these questions since the beginning of her professional career. Whether as a geoscientist at the University of Potsdam or as a project staff member for the University of Trier in West Africa: the expert in social ecology works towards the sustainable management and fair distribution of water resources. Her work focuses on analyzing the distribution of and access to water in urban areas. In particular, she uses methods to measure human-environment interactions.

City is people-made. Which areas are prioritized and who benefits? I want to make that visible and negotiable.

The reason for Maria Kondra's move to inter 3 was her desire to be able to contribute even more effectively to the implementation of solutions developed at the interface of water management and water policy. inter 3 clients benefit from her ability to develop holistic and problem-oriented solutions. Solutions that take into account existing power relations and contribute to the acceptance of central social groups with feasible participation options. Last but not least, Maria Kondra is happy to live with her family in Berlin again after 10 years abroad and in Southern Germany.
