What measures help to cope with demographic change?

How can the challenges of demographic transition be best faced? Commissioned by the Saxony State Government, the Free State of Saxony programme for the promotion of projects and measures for managing demographic transition is being evaluated. inter 3 on behalf of the nexus Institute for cooperation management and interdisciplinary research, is developing a comparative analysis of all Saxony specialist support programmes related to demographic transition.

Objective: Identifying strengths and weaknesses – giving new impetus

With its State Programme "Demography", running since 2007, Saxony is actively confronting the challenges of demographic change. Projects and activities in regions that are especially affected by population decline are supported. They are geared to approach demographic transition in a positive way. The evaluation of the support programme covers the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the projects case-by-case as well as within the whole programme. On this basis, recommendations are made that are aimed at the further development of the state programme and the optimisation of support strategies.

Results: Custom-fit promotional programmes that support transition

For this, inter 3 is developing a comparative analysis of all Saxony specialist support programmes relating to demographic transition. In a second stage, selected Federal and State support programmes as well as examples of successful schemes are examined to see to what extent they can provide suggestions for the further development of the Saxony support programme.

On this basis, inter 3 is compiling recommendations for developing the Support Programme "Demography” further so that it provides the means for municipal innovations.
