The report is based on results from the research project "IWRM Zayandeh Rud" and investigates industrial water consumption in the Iranian Zayandeh Rud river basin. The data was compiled by inter 3 to serve as a database for a water management tool developed by DHI-WASY. Thus, an important objective of this report is to provide an understandable overview of industrial water consumption and data for the water management tool. At the same time, the collected data provide information about the complex industrial water uses in the region and serve as a basis for management decisions.

Report presents two main results of German-Iranian research cooperation

In the first part of the report, the data are presented and placed in various contexts, including the role played by the area's largest industrial facilities and the water use of industrial settlements and industrial agriculture.

The second part depicts a case study. This examines whether the "Eco Industrial Parks" approach is suitable for achieving the goal of reducing the water consumption of industrial facilities. Practical recommendations for action are formulated on the basis of the findings.
