The joint project CritSupPort is starting its work under the title "Management of critical supply chains during restricted port operations". The aim is to develop cross-sector solutions to ensure the supply of essential goods such as medicines and food, especially in the event of bottlenecks at sea and inland ports such as Hamburg and Duisburg.
Ports are central hubs in the German supply system, and restrictions at these hubs can have serious consequences for the entire supply chain. CritSupPort uses state-of-the-art system and scenario analyses to understand and optimise the complex processes and dependencies along multimodal transport routes. In addition to identifying critical hubs, innovative decision-making and prioritisation procedures are being developed to enable coordinated communication between logistics companies, authorities and retailers.
The interdisciplinary consortium led by inter 3 GmbH combines expertise in maritime logistics, risk and crisis management, and data-driven supply chain analysis. The methods and tools developed will be tested in practice and integrated into existing structures in the long term.
CritSupPort is making a significant contribution to sustainably strengthening security of supply in Germany, even under difficult conditions.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) as part of the ‘Research for Civil Security’ (SiFo) programme.
