New publication: A guide for the plastics industry

Recommendations for the avoidance of microplasticemissions

© inter 3 GmbH

At the beginning of the new year, an action plan addressing the issue of industrial microplastic emissions was published. The plan lays out a guideline for actors from the plastics production and processing industry as well as the logistics sector on how to systematically avoid or reduce microplastic emissions at their own production sites. The results of the three-year EmiStop project were thus prepared to be applied in practice in order to contribute to the reduction of microplastics in the environment.

The EmiStop project was financed by the "Plastics in the Environment" initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research until the end of 2021. The project investigated input pathways of microplastics in the plastics production and processing industry as well as the logistics sector focusing on water management and (waste) water infrastructure. inter 3 was responsible for the identification of target-oriented measures and the preparation of results geared towards real-world applications.
