When your apartment has become too big, you want to live in a community, or you want to change your current living situation, the question quickly arises: How can this be achieved? The information exchange “Wohnperspektiven in Mannheim” (Housing Prospects in Mannheim) provides first-hand information on the options available for adapting your living situation to your changing needs.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the U-Halle in Spinelli Park on the former Federal Horticultural Show grounds (Talstraße 173 a-f, 68259 Mannheim). The event will be opened by Mayor Ralf Eisenhauer, who is responsible for housing, construction, and urban development. At a “market of opportunities,” communal housing projects will introduce themselves and report on their experiences and challenges. In addition, interested parties can find out about consulting and funding opportunities for communal housing projects.

Other topics include the housing exchange concept, the creation of housing in existing buildings, and the promotion of barrier-free living in the city. In addition to exchanging ideas and meeting people at the exhibition stands, interested parties can engage in conversation with committed guests in a relaxed atmosphere at two fishbowl discussions starting at 11:30 a.m. And during a walk to the OIKOS housing project on Spinelli, there will be an opportunity to experience communal living in practice. The tour starts at 1:30 p.m. at the U-Halle.

The information exchange “Housing Perspectives in Mannheim” is part of the “SinBa – Social Innovations in Construction, Housing, and Urban Development” project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMFTR) with a focus on socio-ecological research. The information exchange is organized by the Democracy and Strategy Department of the City of Mannheim in cooperation with Local Green Deal, with the Geoinformation and Urban Planning Department as a cooperation partner.
Participation in the event is free of charge. Registration is not required.
