With a joint meeting in Iran, the project “Development of Sustainable Land Use Strategies for Climate Change Adaptation in the Lower Reaches of the Zayandeh Rud River” kicked off. The project is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Environmental Ministry (BMUB) and is implemented by inter 3 on behalf of the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Its main aim is the protection of important ecosystem services and the prevention of desertification.

Within the project, inter 3 develops feasible recommendations for a sustainable land use concept for the Roodasht region, an agriculturally and ecologically important region at the lower reaches of Zayandeh Rud river. Here, land degradation shall be prevented or reversed while scarce water resources are used efficiently and endangered natural resources are protected.
