“Water and Energy“: Iranian delegation looks into German approaches for sustainable water and energy use and supply

A high-ranking Iranian delegation visited several German cities and companies from August 8 to 13, 2015, and looked into ways of incorporating the water-energy-nexus into sustainable infrastructure planning. Ministry of Energy staff, managers of water and wastewater companies from different provinces, and five members of the parliamentary infrastructure commission were part of the delegation. They represented important governmental institutions in the design and implementation of an integrated water resources management (IWRM).

Led by inter 3, the IWRM Zayandeh Rud project has been developing new approaches for an efficient use of environmental resources for the whole of Iran have been developed since 2010. The delegation visited, amongst others, the German Energy Agency, the Water and Wastewater Companies of Berlin and Hamburg as well as various infrastructure sites.
