Wind energy use in Germany

Dynamic change of conflict constellations and conflict types

Acceptance problems, disputed utilization interests, perceived risks - the fact that technical innovations are accompanied by conflicts is more the rule than the exception today. Whether and how these conflicts are resolved increasingly determines the success or failure of innovations.

The first anthology on environmental and technological conflicts in Germany, to be published in spring 2010, provides an overview of the central areas of conflict: Nuclear energy, the BSE crisis, green genetic engineering, wind energy, intensive agriculture and biodiversity. In their contribution "Windenergienutzung in Deutschland im dynamischen Wandel von Konfliktkonstellationen und Konflikttypen" Dr. Susanne Schön and Dr. Dörte Ohlhorst analyze the conflict history of wind energy use and possible conflict solutions.
