An Iranian delegation with high-ranking representatives of the parliament, ministries, administration and universities caught up on German activities and projects in the field of water and infrastructure management in Berlin and Dresden between 27 November and 1 December.

One of the first meetings to place at the German Water Partnership (GWP) head office. GWP Managing Director Juliane Braune presented GWP as network of private and public water companies, associations, research institutes and institutions of the German water sector. inter 3 Managing Director and head of GWP Regional Section Iran, Dr. Shahrooz Mohajeri, presented the GWP activities in and cooperation with Iran

On 28 November the delegation visited the inter 3 office. The IWRM project was of particular interest for the delegation as it deals not only with technical but also non-technical solutions like participation and training. Given the increasing water scarcity in the entire country and the experiences and know-how of German water researchers and companies the participants underlined the great potential of German-Iranian cooperation. They also showed great interest in the Action Plan inter 3 prepared for the arid Roodasht region east of Isfahan on behalf of the GIZ.

In the morning the delegation had already visited the ROOF WATER-FARM in Central Berlin. In this pilot plant rain and grey water are recycled to be reused for plant and fish breeding on roof farms. Wastewater reuse is a big issue in Iran; currently different methods are tested to find solutions for water scarcity.
