Possibilities for the systematic economic use of rainwater

Rainwater is a valuable, frequently unused resource. The project "Focus: Water" ("Drehscheibe Wasser"), funded by the Foundation for Education and Support of the Disabled (Stiftung für Bildung und Behindertenförderung GmbH, now Heidehof-Stiftung) aims to inform the residents of the community of Neuenhagen near Berlin about the options for rainwater usage. Interested parties can choose a suitable system, depending on the application, and in so doing contribute to the conservation of natural resources. Within the project inter 3 is coordinating a working group on water management.

Results: Handbook on rainwater usage

In order to build up a qualified information network, interested citizens and the most relevant water management representatives from local government, associations, federations and public agencies have come together in a working group coordinated by inter 3. A handbook will be developed which gives consideration to the actual situation in the community and district. This will be available to all property owners and builders who are interested in using rainwater technology. The working group provides the community residents with expert contacts and a water management "information pool”.
